INTRODUCTION
STYCCOBOND F1 is a natural rubber latex based product designed for use as a seaming and sealing adhesive for carpets. Its creamy consistency makes it suitable for application with brush or applicator.
STYCCOBOND F1 is for use with a suitable joining tape for seaming traditional
and hessian backed carpets and for sealing edges of traditional carpets to prevent fibre loss.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Proper subfloor preparation is essential to the correct installation of any floor covering. Subfloors must be sound , smooth, dry and free from any contaminants which will affect adhesion. For detailed information request our Subfloor Preparation Guide.
DAMP SUBFLOORS
The Relative Humidity (RH) of the subfloor can be measured using the F. Ball Digital Hygrometer. Where the RH value is greater than 75% the appropriate STOPGAP waterproof surface membrane should be applied.
SMOOTHING
To ensure a level surface on which to adhere to, uneven and irregular surfaces should be suitably prepared using the appropriate STOPGAP smoothing underlayments.
ADHESIVE APPLICATION
Seaming of carpets: Ensure that both edges are cut cleanly and are free from loose fibres, dirt, grease etc. Apply an even coat of adhesive to the back of the carpet and the surface of the joining tape. Allow to partially dry before pressing the surfaces firmly together, using a hand roller.
Edge sealing of traditional carpets: Remove any loose fibres, then apply adhesives to the edge of the carpet using a brush. Allow to dry before the carpet is stretched over the grippers.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not stretch the carpet until the adhesive has fully dried, premature stretching of the carpet will result in the seams opening up.
TOOLS
Brush, or suitable applicator for applying a bead of adhesive. Tools should be cleaned with water while the adhesive is still wet and with STYCCOCLEAN SOLVENT or STYCCOWIPES if allowed to dry.
STORAGE
Store between 5°C and 30°C. Protect from frost.
SHELF LIFE
12 months in unopened containers and stored under good conditions.
